Mycotoxin testing in Buffalo, NY

Mycotoxin testing measures the secondary metabolites (toxins) that some mold species produce. Distinct from measuring the mold itself. The most common Buffalo / WNY mycotoxin scenarios involve sustained-moisture exposure (long-term basement humidity, hidden wall-cavity mold growth, post-water-damage delayed remediation) where occupants report symptoms consistent with chronic exposure but standard mold air sampling returns normal-range results. Our mycotoxin testing uses two primary methods: ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for the common mycotoxin families (aflatoxin, ochratoxin, trichothecenes, gliotoxin, zearalenone) on settled dust samples; and LC-MS (liquid chromatography mass spectrometry) for specific confirmatory testing when ELISA flags require species-level resolution. Some patients in CIRS-protocol treatment programs are referred specifically for ERMI dust analysis. We perform that as part of the same engagement. Industrial hygienist review: every mycotoxin report is reviewed by a CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) before delivery. The CIH signs off on test methodology, sample handling, and interpretive language. We do NOT provide medical opinion on mycotoxin-related illness. That remains with the patient's treating physician. But the report is structured to be readable by a clinical team.
