Schedule a mold test in Buffalo. Start with a call.
Found mold, or think you have it? Call (716) 410-6767 and tell us what you're seeing, or send the form below. The first call is a free phone consultation, and we'll tell you whether you need a mold test at all. If water got in recently, call today, because the EPA says wet materials should be dried within 24 to 48 hours.

- Unmarked vehicles
We're a family-owned and operated New York State licensed mold assessor, and we drive unmarked vehicles, so a visit stays discreet. We test homes in Buffalo and its suburbs, across Chautauqua County including Fredonia, and over the state line in Erie, PA and Pittsburgh.
- Monday to Friday: 8 AM to 6 PM
- Saturday and Sunday: 10 AM to 4 PM
If you need a time outside these hours, bring it up when you call.
What to have ready, and what to do if you have none of it
None of it is required, but each piece makes the first call more useful.
Photos of the stain or growth, on your phone, help us judge the size. That matters, because the EPA says mold growth larger than about 10 square feet is the point where professional help is recommended.
Tell us when the water got in, whether from a basement flood, a sump failure or an ice dam. Fresh damage is a race against the drying window, so give us that date first. There's more on mold testing after water damage.
Buying or selling? Have the closing date handy and we'll schedule around it. Our page on mold testing during a home sale explains how testing fits a sale.
Who lives in the house matters too. The CDC says people with asthma, allergies or weakened immunity can react more severely to mold, so tell us if that's anyone at home.
Missing all of it is fine. We can start with whatever you've got at (716) 410-6767.
What happens after you reach out
- You call or send the form, and our process starts with what you found. If a test won't tell you anything new, we say so on the phone. If it will, we quote the mold test and write a precise scope of work for the job.
- We walk the house with you, look at what you found, and take samples only when they will tell you something.
- If samples go to a lab, you get the results in writing. For mold larger than 10 square feet, the state Department of Labor says a mold assessor inspects and writes a mold remediation plan (the written instructions for the licensed contractor who does the cleanup). We write that plan.
- If the job needs removal, we help you vet and hire a separate licensed remediation contractor, oversee the work, and then do the clearance testing (a follow-up test that checks whether the job worked).
New York keeps testing and removal on the same property separate, and that works in your favor: the person testing your home has no reason to make the problem look bigger.
If you live in Buffalo or the Erie County suburbs, the county can't do this part for you. The Erie County Department of Health says it cannot test or assess homes for mold, so homeowners hire a licensed assessor privately.
You can check our licenses yourself. The company holds NYS Mold Assessment Contractor License 25-61XEN-SHMO (state lookup), and Mason Bridges holds individual Mold Assessor License 25-61OFY-SHMO (state lookup). Mason is also listed in the ACAC directory as a Council-certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC).
Closing date or fresh water damage? Tell us when you call (716) 410-6767 and we'll start there.
Common questions
Questions about scheduling a mold test
How much does a professional mold test cost?
We quote after a short call, because the size of the house and the number of samples, if any, change the work. The phone consultation itself is free, and our quotes are transparent, with no hidden fees. If the call shows you don't need a test, we'll say so, and you won't pay for one.
What do I need to do to get ready for my mold inspection?
Make sure we can get to the basement, attic, crawl space and any room with growth or a musty smell, and move stored boxes away from those walls. Write down any leaks you know about and roughly when. Leave the suspect area undisturbed until we've seen it.
How long does mold testing take?
It depends on the house and on whether we take samples, so we give you the real timing on the call. The work runs in steps: the visit, lab time if samples go out, then your results in writing. We'll tell you our schedule that week too.
Will a mold inspection delay my closing?
It adds time, so call as early as you can. Testing means a visit and, if samples go to a lab, lab time. If we find a problem, you get it in writing, and if the mold covers more than 10 square feet, we write the remediation plan a licensed contractor works from.
Do you also perform remediation, or would that be a separate professional?
A separate professional. In New York a separately licensed remediation contractor does the removal. We're the testing and planning side: we write the plan, help you vet and hire that contractor, oversee the job and do the clearance testing afterward. There's more on our mold remediation page. Rather write it down? Use the form below and tell us what you found and any date you're working against. Not sure we reach your town? Ask on the call, or check our coverage page.
